Welcome to Nile Supplies

One Trade Desk for Egyptian Food & Beverage Sourcing

From a single resort kitchen to container imports, Nile Supplies handles the sourcing between Egypt and the Maldives: finding the suppliers, collecting their offers, and keeping specs, packing and shipping terms clear. Explore the site below.

Why procurement teams send their list to Nile Supplies

  • 48-Hour Reply Target

We aim to return supplier offers within 48 hours on working days (Sunday to Thursday, Cairo time). This is an indicative target, not a guaranteed response time: timing depends on the inquiry and supplier availability.

  • Sourced Direct from Egyptian Producers

We ask Egyptian growers, packers and exporters for prices directly, then send you one Nile Supplies quote with price, packing and terms.

  • Logistical Risk Isolation

Choose where your risk starts: EXW, FOB, CFR or CIF. Packing, documents and lead time are written into each quote before you commit.

  • Continuous Supply Base

Egypt's harvest calendar runs through the year, with dry goods, dates and frozen lines to plan around the seasons.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

Something else? Contact the trade desk.

  • Is Nile Supplies a supplier or a wholesaler?

Neither. Nile Supplies is a B2B sourcing desk. We do not hold inventory. We get prices from food and beverage supplier partners in Egypt for your inquiry, then quote and invoice you ourselves and place the order with the supplier once you approve.

  • Can you help me import food from Egypt to the Maldives?

Yes. Send one product list with quantities, packing and the delivery point in the Maldives, such as a Malé warehouse or a resort island. We ask Egyptian supplier partners for EXW and FOB prices and send you one Nile Supplies quote. Nothing is ordered until you approve it.

  • Which Egyptian food and beverage categories can I source?

The catalog currently lists fresh produce (including dates), frozen goods, dry goods such as rice, pasta and pulses, dairy, beverages and specialty foods. Prices are on request and quoted per inquiry.

  • What do EXW and FOB mean in a quote?

They are Incoterms rules published by the International Chamber of Commerce. Under EXW the supplier makes the goods available at its premises and the buyer arranges loading, export clearance and transport. Under FOB the supplier clears the goods for export and loads them on board the vessel at the named port in Egypt; sea freight, insurance and import clearance in the Maldives are then for the buyer.

  • Who can import food commercially into the Maldives?

According to the U.S. Commercial Service guide to the Maldives, only individuals or companies holding an import permit from the Ministry of Economic Development can import commercial goods, and the shipment must be consigned in the permit holder's name. A licensed customs broker can lodge the customs declaration. Your company, or the importer you work with, needs that permit.

  • Which authority regulates imported food in the Maldives?

The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) enforces food safety regulations, and Maldives Customs clears the goods. Ask your importer or customs broker which documents your products need, such as a certificate of origin or a health certificate, and list them in your inquiry so suppliers can confirm what they can provide.

  • What should I plan for in delivery to the Maldives?

Tell us whether the goods travel ambient, chilled or frozen, the shelf life you need on arrival and the final delivery point. Freight, customs clearance and duties are agreed for each inquiry, and we do not publish fixed transit times.

  • Is sending a Quote Basket or inquiry an order?

No. A Quote Basket or contact form submission is a request for quotes only. Nothing is ordered and no payment is taken. You decide afterwards whether to approve the quote.

  • How are prices set?

Prices are not listed on the site. We quote per inquiry, based on supplier prices for the product, grade, quantity, packing and delivery terms you ask for.

  • What is the minimum order or lead time?

This depends on the product and the supplier, so we do not publish fixed figures. Tell us your quantities and the date you need the goods, and your quote will state what the supplier can offer.

  • When will I receive a response?

We aim to reply within 48 hours on working days (Sunday to Thursday, Cairo time). This is an indicative target, not a guaranteed or fixed response time: timing depends on the inquiry and supplier availability.

  • Can I ask for certificates or documents?

Yes. List the certificates or export documents you need in your inquiry. We ask the suppliers whether they can provide them and pass on what they send. Please check any document yourself before you buy.

  • Can I send my own product list?

Yes. The contact form accepts a PDF, Excel, CSV, Word or image file with your list. You can also message us on WhatsApp.

  • I am a supplier in Egypt. How do I join?

Use the Become a Supplier link in the footer of any page. You can upload your product list as CSV, Excel or PDF; a CSV template with example rows is provided.
